Good parenting *must* include totally messing with your children’s naive little minds! How else will they develop a healthy sense of sarcasm and humor? (Which surely will happen after a few years of therapy.)
Sarcasm as a parenting technique, if applied correctly, can be both educational and loving. It forces children to think critically, to spot a fallacy or logical leap. Simultaneously, it creates a bond, because once the fallacy is resolved, it becomes an established inside joke. The important things are to be sarcastic in ways that a child will likely be able to unravel, and then unraveling it yourself if the child cannot.
You can analogize to physical exercise; you want to use weights that are challenging but manageable, and whatever you do, don’t leave the barbell pinning them down.
Yay, messing with children. Note, this also works on adults rather more frequently then you would expect. I always assume people will catch me, and then they don’t.
It reminds me of when my nephew cut his hand. He went to my brother and said ‘daddy, daddy am I bleeding?’ We both responded in unison, ‘no, you’re not bleeding.’ So he had to wait for his mother to figure out if he should cry or not.
Haha, that’s too awesome. And yes, this sort of thing does work on adults too. It’s amazing what you can get people to believe (or at least seriously consider) as long as you deliver your lines with a straight face.
Yay!
Yaaaay!
I think you guys should get some guest comics up during these long breaks!
Yeahhh probably so. But I’ll try not to have any long breaks like that for a while at least.
Well, then, PROBLEM SOLVED. He’s trying, so we’re in the clear. No more famines.
Actually, I like how different this one is from the others. Serene.
Anyhow… Have you guys read philosophybro.com?

Thanks Wm, I’m glad you liked it. This one is another result of playing around and drawing on my iPad, which I really need to do more often.
And oh yes… philosophybro is brilliant!

If messing with your kids’ naive little minds is a component of good parenting, then I am gonna be an awesome dad.

I’m with you up until not metaphorically leaving the barbell pinning them down; that’s the fun part!
You know what? I realized that this comic isn’t about good or bad parenting.
Just Revenge!
