This one quickly started getting too wordy for a single comic. So rather than try and condense it all into one, I’m making it a two-parter. Oh, the suspense! Free cookie to anyone who can guess what the solution to the problem of evil is! (Ben if you can remember the drunken conversation that inspired this comic then I’m afraid you’re excluded from the contest. Sorry.)
Also while I’m thinking of it, here are a couple of news items:
– Chaospet is going to be hosting the Philosophers’ Carnival on Feb 9th! I’ll post the official call for submissions in mid-January, but if you have a philosophy blog, start thinking about writing something you would like to share with the philosophically minded portions of the internets.
– Some crazy kids have gone and created a Facebook fan group for Chaospet! How awesome is that? So if you’re a fan of the comic (you know you are) and if you’re on Facebook (and who isn’t?), you should totally go and sign up. And tell your friends to sign up. And tell them to tell their friends to sign up. And tell them to tell their friends to tell their friends to sign up. And so on!
That’s all for now. Enjoy the comic!
Well, I can clearly see that “to be continued” is a form of evil. So thanks for contributing to the problem. GOD IS DEAD! YOU KILLED HIM! YOU BASTARD!
I’ve read some good answers. I’ll post them on the next cartoon. TO BE CONTINUED…
i think you’re giving us a clue. is it cookies? the solution to the problem of evil is cookies1!
“to be continued” is the ULTIMATE form of evil. Especially if I don’t post again for a couple of weeks. But I wouldn’t do that. Maybe.
tell us the solution noW!! please
Hah. So if Ben cannot remember it, he is free to guess like the rest of us? How do we decide whether he really remembers it? I mean. Sometimes I say, “I don’t remember” and then someone mentions a word of that which I don’t remember and suddenly I do remember after all.
I like the evil god hypothesis, myself. Even though it is subject to the problem of good…
Oh year, I forgot to say. What kind of writings are you interested in for the submissions? I have a philosophical “blog”, but I usually write in Danish. However, I could maybe manage to translate something. 🙂
PS. I’m not a crazy kid, but I have employed my leet super persuasion powers to gain administrator rights on the Facebook group.
My main thing is that I’d like the submissions to be fairly accessible for a broad audience. Beyond that I don’t have any set criteria in mind, any area of philosophical discourse would be good!
You could take a look at my site. I have an English section where all my English writings are (except those where I forgot to check the box :p).
I wrote an article on the so-called stone paradox some time ago. Maybe that would interest you? I’m denying that it is impossible to create the rock.
I write generally, I think, on quite novel issues. This is because I’m an autodidact who is somewhat isolated from the “philosophical community”; I have nearly only myself to discuss with.
Could you give me a link to your article on the stone paradox? I’m having trouble locating it…
A bit of irony: the exact moment I started reading this comic, “Dear God” by XTC came on on my iPod.
At any rate, I just found this comic a few hours ago through an ad on Project Wonderful, and I’m loving it so far. Just thought I’d let you know.
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoy!!
