Ok, so I’ve decided to use this area occasionally for blogging/rambling/ranting, in addition to news and announcements. If you don’t like blogs, just keep your gaze focused on the comic above, and you’ll be ok.

One thing you’ll hear me rant about over the next few weeks is Dissertation Writing Month. It’s based on the famous NaNoWriMo, except that instead of writing a novel, you try to make progress on your dissertation (obviously). My goal is to produce 20,000 words, or about 70 pages, of (very) rough dissertation material over the course of the month. As I make progress, I’ll include this nifty little status bar to show where I’m at:

Of course I am starting a few days late, but I still think it’s pretty manageable.
